The Empire State building is the tallest building in New York. It was constructed from 1930 to 1931 and opened shortly after the Wall Street Crash in the Time of the Big Depression. Office space was impossible to rent out and the building was nicknamed the "Empty State Building". Only because of the popularity of its observation deck was the building able to survive.
