Another one of my Yosemite Pictures. It was here where Ansel Adams shot his famous shot "Clearing Winter Storm". It is one of the most popular and spectacular views in Yosemite NP. Easily accesible with a large parking lot it is a favorite spot for photographers. If you plan to view the sunset from here, come early as the best spots fill up quick. Pigeon Point Lighthouse, just south of Half Moon Bay California, is the second-tallest lighthouse in the US. It was built in 1872. The picture shows the lighthouse just before renovation.

I shot this picture in February. The picture looked almost black and white so the conversion to black and white was only natural. It is one of my favorite pictures and will be available as a print soon. I had the lens set to very small aperture to get the image very sharp. Canon 300D / Quantaray 55-200mm / 200mm / Circular Polarizer

The other day I sat in the garden of a Mexican restaurant enjoying some really good Mexican beer and food when it happened. I don't really dare saying it but I will anyways. I saw this huge black cock. Unbelievable. I was disturbed as you can imagine and almost coughed up my food. Well I hope this won't get me on the black lists of URL filters ;-) Canon 20D / Canon 70-200mm f/4 L USM

I just received my new Lens (Sigma 24-60mm f/2.8 EX DG). This is a very fast lens, ideal for indoor shots. So today I set out to shoot inside the church of San Jose Mission (see previos post).
The lens is outstanding. I was able to shoot this picture at ISO 400 without a Tripod.
The light was very dim, but the lens is sharp even at f/2.8. I was able to take home some very nice shots.
The architecture of the roof was especially interesting in this picture.

San Jose Mission. The fourteenth of twenty one california Missions was build in 1797. In 1868 an earthquake destroyed the church and a wooden church was erected in its place. Canon 20D / Sigma 28-80mm / Circular Polarizer

Mission San Juan Bautista. The mission was built in 1797 and is the largest of California's Missions. San Juan Bautista is a little very laid back town. Antique stores, restaurants and bars along the main street invite to spend one's afternoon here. If you are lucky, you might arrive during an art or music festival, a car show or a wine festival.
