Getting down to the Black Sand Beach of Waipi'o valley is somewhat challenging. Most travel guidebooks advice against it, but if you are a halfway decent driver you shouldn't have too much of a problem. A one lane very steep road leads down into the valley. The road is 25% grade (45 degrees angle) steep and at some points there is nothing separating you from a vertical drop. You need a 4WD vehicle though.
