i dont care what anyone says,

but i was wondering, how do you approach a stranger to take their photo?i just never know what to say and miss a photo opritunity, any advice?

To be perfectly honest, I don't even ask. I just take the shot and keep smiling. Keep an open and non threatening attitude, take the shot and walk away.
There are several techniques i use:
-keep looking in the same direction after the person passes and take another shot, nobody will suspect you of taking their photo
-just smile and be open. if someone wants you to, delete their shot
-be honest, smile and wave
I believe that asking the person will destroy the moment. If someone knows they are being photographed, they cannot help but assume certain poses and behaviors, thus destroying the candid nature of the shot.
Either way, street is not my specialty, but rather new to me as well.
