The White Mountains form the second highest Range in California next to the Sierra Nevada. In the rain shadow of the Sierra Nevada, the White Mountains are dry and inhospitable. Venturing through the Bristlecone Pine Forest, we have been up to 3,360m (over 11,000 ft) high. The last time I was at a higher altitude was in Peru.
