This dead, contorted and very photogenic pine has stood here for centuries, overlooking Owens Valley. The trees take hundreds of years to grow in this hostile environment. Withstanding the rough climate, the bristlecone pines become twisted. Nevertheless they grow tall and defy anything the conditions throws at them.
