Oregon Pictures

Oregon John Day HighwayOregon is California's rainy neighbor in the north. I like traveling to Oregon. The state is very diverse and full of color, even in summer when California is mostly brownish.

But Oregon has much more to offer than wet coastal regions. Eastern Oregon is also very dry, but the colorful John Day Fossil Beds and the very different landscape invite travelers seeking for the path less traveled.

The incredibly scenic views and deep rich colors Crater Lake National Park offfer a fascinating introduction into the seismic volcanic history of Oregon. Once you have aroused your curiousity for everything volcanic, check out Newberry National Volcanic Monument.

After a tour through the wonderful landscapes of southern and eastern Oregon, relax in Portland, Oregon most populous and lively cities. From here you can explore the Columbia River Gorge with its many waterfalls on a casual day trip.

I finally found the time to upload new pictures that were on my computer far too long. Enjoy!

Oregon

I very strongly second you on Oregon being a very beautiful state. It has to be up in my top 3 places to drive through. I am still new to the SLR and learning the settings etc (thanks to your tutorials), but hope to have some time to take some more photo's while I am up there. Here is a few I took while traveling through Saturday. http://www.flickr.com/photos/paid_tourist/sets/72157620586421271/detail/

THANKS a million for all your time and effort to post all the tutorials and tips. a month ago I hadn't a clue what aperture or anything was lol.

Oregon native

Having grown up in Southern Oregon, it was great to see your pics posted of a place I know so well. I was born and raised in Klamath Falls, about 35 miles southeast of Crater Lake. I have to say that Crater Lake is one of the most dramatic and beautiful places on the planet. One aspect I loved the most was how it looked so striking throughout the different seasons. It's hard to decide which to like better, bright and sunny or dark and snowy. Thanks for posting!

I've visited Oregon Crater Park 2 years back & it was a nice place to visit specially during winter. Thanks for this information.

Those were really some

Those were really some amazing pictures and your “guided tour” of Oregon was really wonderful!! You have managed to bring out the different “moods” of Oregon so well and it sure is a diverse scenic and colorful region!! I was really fascinated to see the different and totally unusual places that you can see and one wonders if one region can boast of so many types of landscape!! I really enjoyed reading and checking out your blog whenever I can!!
