New Galleries shot with the Canon 7D
|
I have uploaded two new Galleries of pictures from my recent trip to the Four Courner States and Nevadea. I shot these pictures with my new Canon 7D. Since the camera is brand new, I had to change my workflow, mostly because my version of Photoshop does not support it and Lightroom 3 Beta does not give me good results with white balance. I worked things out though and finally learned how to use Silkypix Pro (review coming). Meanwhile, here are some galleries for you to enjoy. The first Gallery is Valley of Fire State Park in Nevada. This is a very diverse park with plenty of alien looking rock formations to explore. Had I known how much fun it was to explore this jewel, I would have come here sooner. The second Gallery is Colorado National Monument. I have been in the vicinity twice before and couldn't make it here either. Colorado National Monument also was a pleasant surprise. Nearby parks in Utah overshadow this little pleasant park. I am working on more galleries and some interesting blog posts. Meanwhile, enjoy these two. |

I find your photos
I find your photos absolutely stunning. The co lours are truly amazing. I wish I was having as much luck with my 7d as you are. There is only one other thing I would like to ask you. You say that because of the new 7d you had to change your workflow, could you please explain to me what you meant by that.
Cheers
Peter
RAW software
Hello Peter
I used to process my RAW files with ACR3, the raw converter of Photoshop CS3. It doesn't support the 7D, and I don't want to spend the money for the upgrade. I switched to Silkipix (review on this site) and to Adobe Lightroom 3 beta. I had to adjust my workflow to accommodate these tools, but Lightroom now handles the 7D very well (initially it gave me a purple tint on recovered highlights). Silkipix always worked nicely with the camera.
Love your pics
I love your rock formations you took in Nevada. I currently live in Nevada, but soon will be moving to Nebraska. Have you ever been to Pyramide Lake about 40 minutes from Reno? There is some really nice rock formations there. They are really remarkable and I took some pictures there a couple years ago. They are really rounded smooth rock formations. Someday I would like to take pictures from around the US of all the remarkable natural places to see.
Actually I haven't been
Actually I haven't been there. Thanks for the tip. It sounds lovely. I will put this on my list of places that I need to visit.

Cool camera and some amazing
Cool camera and some amazing pictures!! But there is nothing surprising in that because you only come up with the best photographs that I have ever seen!! I think more than the photographs, it is your ability to find spots like these and absorbing such interesting and unusual sites in a camera that has to be given credit!! We are really lucky to see such high quality photographs of places like these which wouldn’t have been possible otherwise!!

WOW!!! I'm heading to Nevada after seeing this
Inspiring colors... I would like to break out my 7D and replicate some of these shots.
I particularly enjoy pictures of slot canyons, they tend to yield some amazing colors and hues if you manage to catch them at the right time of day.
